What is Challenge Day?

For millions of young people bullying, cliques, alienation and even violence have become deeply ingrained in their daily school experience. Challenge Day provides a way for teens to lift themselves and their schools out of this quagmire, and to create a new environment that reflects the change that they want to see in their school.

Challenge Day is a series of games, activities, group discussions, icebreakers and trust-building exercises that lead to transformation. The walls of separation that divide people from one another are broken down, and the participants leave the experience with new levels of respect and communication with their peers, teachers, parents, community and themselves. The program successfully addresses the issues of violence, racism, teasing, stereotypes, tobacco, drugs and alcohol within the context of teen life.

This nationally recognized program has reduced teen substance abuse (drugs, alcohol and tobacco), student absenteeism, and teasing, racism and violence in middle schools and high schools. Challenge Day also helps young people learn to connect through powerful, life-changing programs in their schools and communities. Challenge Day programs increase self-esteem, help shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support, and reduce the acceptability of teasing, oppression, and all forms of violence. Our programs inspire youth and communities to Be the Change they wish to see in the world, and challenge others to do the same.

“Challenge Day taught me how to open up myself to other people.  I used to close myself and acted like someone I wasn’t.  After Challenge Day, I started to be myself.”   - Central Florida Student
